With this project we needed to create a covered space for gathering and watching sports along with an area for eating and entertaining. The family needed built in seating for their larger parties and not one but two fire features to extend the useful season of being together outside.

Giving the look of wood to concrete flooring surfaces

Our Design Approach

Step 1) Layout covered and uncovered spaces

First we had to figure out the best way to tie in a roof structure, and layout the patio space under and around to provide enough room for the family’s larger gatherings

Step 2) Choose the Materials

The customers wanted a wood floor, but it would not stand up well so close to the ground, and over time would require a ton of maintenance and repair.  We used wood textured pavers with a grey finish to give the rustic modern look they were going for.  We also incorporated wood finished posts and benches that were treated with marine grade varnish to allow them to withstand the elements.

Step 3) Project Coordination

This multidisciplinary project required coordination between the carpenters, electricians, plumbers and our hardscape construction teams.

Permits were required and inspections were carried out. With this project we began to realize our added value to coordinating the bigger vision and teams needed to bring these backyard masterpieces to life.
