After living in the house for several years they were tired of coming home to a dull, dreary and drab landscape with some dying evergreen shrubs. They wanted the home’s entry to match the beauty of the interior spaces.

the challenges

Slope and step up to the front door

Needed to make impression from the street

Wanted it to look good all year round

Natural Look with stones and boulders

Our Design Approach

Step 1) Layout the Levels

We first wanted to lay out some small stone retaining walls to give a natural look and incorporate some boulders and pathways to the yard.

Step 2) Choose the Materials & Finalize Design

We went with stones that blended with the color of the home and were all natural vs. using concrete blocks that were too perfect. We also used a mixed variety of evergreens and flowering trees, and shrubs to create interest in every season.

Step 3) Installation

Once we had a design that solved their needs we had our installation team build the hardscape and they wanted to make the slope and drainage their first priority. We buried the downspouts and installed the hardscape portions first. Lastly we added the plants and the mulch along with some lights to keep it safe and looking great throughout the evening hours as well.
